Otivm Spa

This exciting commission is for a series of original artworks for the ocean liner Silver Dawn, part of the luxurious Silversea small ship fleet. The painted tapestries will decorate a new concept spa experience inspired by the ancient wall Frescos of Pompeii and the flora and fauna of the garden of Livia in ancient Rome.

Two reclining figures are framed by architecture and surrounded by exotic fruits, herbs, shrubs, and small birds. Through the in and out of focus, two canvases, each finished in different tones, are shredded into straps for assembling via weaving in a repeating pattern of 5 mm, 10 mm, and 20 mm straps.

Highlights will be gilded with 23-carat gold, silver, and palladium. Other selected areas are hand and free-embroidered with a scrambled pattern of fauna and flora. The palette was created to deliver an experience of timeworn finery, quiet opulence, and a whisper of calm. As with all artist walls, ancient graffiti script is etched out of the layers of work.
